SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDSThe SEN coordinator, with the support of the VP- Academic, ensures that the objectives of the SEN policy are reflected in the school plan. SENCO takes responsibility for the provision made by the school for pupils with SEN and provides professional guidance in the area of Special Educational needs. The SENCO's role is to collect and interpret specialist assessment data for the pupils and use it to formulate appropriate teaching practices. SENCO helps SEN students to set realistic targets, and provide appropriate support according to the school’s SEN Policy. SENCO also works collaboratively with external agencies and parents to help SEN students maximize their achievement and independence. SENCO is responsible for arranging special provision during the examinations according to the special needs of pupils and at the Examination Boards' discretion. |
