Our AimsIn the teaching of languages, we offer a range of options that will cater to both first and second learners of the language. Our aims are to have learners communicate accurately, appropriately and effectively, to enjoy and appreciate the variety in language, and to promote their personal development so that they better understand themselves and others. We subscribe to the principle that language is best learned when all the language skills (speaking, listening, reading, writing) are developed in an integrated approach through activities that allow meaningful communication. We believe that literature enriches learners as the experience of literature contributes to their aesthetic, imaginative and intellectual growth, to a deeper understanding of other periods and cultures and it sharpens awareness of areas of human concern. For this reason, literature is taught at all levels from years 1 to 6 at varying levels of depth and breadth as appropriate to the maturity of learners. Subjects OfferedThe department delivers the curriculum for the following subjects: English and Literature
